Rick Carriere

U of A - B. Ed

Rick is from Edmonton and received his bachelor of education degree from the UofA ( in Phys.Ed. And Business).

He played his minor hockey in the K of C organization then moved to Saskatoon to play for the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League from 1976 to 1979. In 1979/80 he played for the Johnstown redwings of the Eastern Hockey League.

Rick then played at NAIT for Perry Pearn for the 1980/81 season before going to the U of A to play for the Bears from 1981 to 1985 where he played for Coach Clare Drake and Bill Moores.

After graduating from the U of A Rick returned to NAIT and began his coaching career as an assistant coach to Perry Pearnfrom 1985 to 1989. In 1989/90 Rick took over the Head Coaching position when PerryPearn left to work with Dave King and the Canadian National Team program.

The following year Rick took a position with the SEIBU Bears of the Japan Hockey League from 1990 to 1992. He returned to North America to become the Assistant Coach with the Calgary Flames affiliate Saint John Flames of the American Hockey League from 1992 to 1994.

From 1994 to 1996 Rick was the Head Coach with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. He then took a position with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations from 1996 to 2000.

From 2000 to 2004 Rick became the General Manager of the Medicine Hat Tigers.Currently he's still working with the Medicine Hat Tigers in a scouting/administrative capacity.
